100th Anniversary of the Winnipeg General Strike

2019 is a landmark year for Manitoba's labour movement, marking 100 years since the Winnipeg General Strike. This historic action transformed labour relations in our province and across Canada, leading to improved working conditions and wages, and increased awareness about the importance of trade unionism.

In partnership with the Manitoba's Unions, Manitoba's Nurses will be supporting a variety of events and causes associated with the centennial year

  • Don't miss out on the 1919 Social on May 11 at the Ukrainian Labour Temple, the General Strike Gala Dinner on May 15 and more!
  • Join the MNU walking group for the 1919 - 2019 Solidarity Parade on May 25! The parade will begin at 11:00 am at the corner of Lily Street and Market Avenue, then head west one block to Main Street, turn south on Main Street and proceed to Broadway, and then march west along Broadway to Memorial Park. It will be followed by the Solidarity Forever Community Concert (1:00 pm) at Memorial Park. Lineup includes Sierra Noble, Heather Bishop, James Keelaghan and lots of other Manitoba talent!
