The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has heightened health and safety concerns in the workplace for nurses and other health care workers. MNU has fought for nurses’ right to use their professional judgement in a Point of Care Risk Assessment (PCRA) and having appropriate access to PPE when assessing and providing care to patients, residents, and clients.

In this session, MNU Labour Relations Officer (LRO) Tom Henderson will highlight employer responsibilities and your rights under provincial workplace safety and health legislation. One of these rights is the Right to Refuse Unsafe Work, which will be explained. He will also outline how to bring forward a health and safety concern in your workplace. Susan Tremblay, MNU LRO specializing in WCB claims and appeals, will provide information for MNU members related to seeking accommodation and reporting related to injury or illness due to COVID-19.

Workshop #2: MNU and You: Introductory Workshop

**This session is currently full and registration has now closed.  Please check back later for future sessions.**

Evening Session: Tuesday, December 1st @ 1700 to 1830

Sign up via registration form below. You will receive confirmation of your registration and a Zoom link 24 hours prior to the session.

I’m already a member of Manitoba Nurses Union.  Why should I get involved?  And how is that going to help me at work?  If you have asked yourself these questions, this is the session for you!

Union membership has never been more important. Whether you’re a new member or have been one for some time, this is an opportunity to learn more about how you can tap into MNU to support you.

During this session you will:

  • Meet the MNU provincial president
  • Learn who to contact to address issues
  • Become informed about your health and safety rights
  • Learn what MNU is doing to support nurses during the pandemic
  • Learn about access to education funding

This is a stressful time for nurses working in health care. We have some stress reducers planned for the session as well.

Members must preregister to obtain the Zoom link to participate.

Please note that this workshop is free for MNU members, and there is no funding available for attending.
