About This Workshop

All sessions will take place in Winnipeg, at Union Centre, 275 Broadway. Members must pre-register.  Registration is limited to 30 per session.  Registration deadline will be three (3) weeks prior to the date of intended session.


This 2-day workshop is for current local/worksite presidents or vice-presidents that have not attended Administration of a Local or a Presidents workshop previously.  In addition to  an explanation of the roles and responsibilities, topics that will be covered are:

  • Duty of Fair Representation       
  • Union leave & president entitlement
  • Grievances
  • NAC & joint committees              
  • Expense claims
  • Representing members in a meeting

MNU Funding follows the MNU Handbook Financial policies, and includes the following:

  • Lunch, morning and afternoon snack as provided, both days.
  • Dinner on the first day of the workshop
  • Two (2) days salary replacement. Three (3) days salary replacement may be necessary due to travel/work schedule. 
  • 2 nights shared accommodation for participants who live 50 km or more Winnipeg Perimeter Highway. 
  • Travel costs with the following qualifications:
    • Members required to travel will have travel costs (mileage, travel time, airfare) paid as per MNU policy.
    • Participants whose travel arrangements/work schedule make an additional day of accommodation or salary necessary, must receive pre-authorization from the MNU office. 

Any additional expenses charged must follow MNU Financial policies.

All sessions will take place in Winnipeg at Union Centre, 275 Broadway. Members must pre-register.  Registration is limited to 20 per session. Registration deadline will be three (3) weeks prior to the date of intended session.


This 1-day workshop is for current local/worksite secretaries or treasurers that have not attended Administration of a Local or a Secretary-Treasurer workshop previously. In addition to  an explanation of the roles and responsibilities, topics that will be covered are:

  • Fiscal Responsibility
  • Expense claims
  • Membership lists/dues
  • Meeting minutes

MNU Funding follows the MNU Handbook Financial policies, and includes the following:
