MNU president Sandi Mowat joined nursing leaders from across the country by calling on the federal government to act now to ensure fairness, justice and equity for all First Nations children in Canada.

Mowat signed a letter, addressed to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, which said that First Nations children should not have to fight for access to services readily available to all other Canadians.

The letter is an initiative of Have a Heart Day, a national child and youth-led reconciliation campaign aimed at bringing together Canadians to help ensure First Nations children have the services they need to grow up safely at home, get a good education, be healthy and proud of their cultures.

As part of this campaign, an event will be held on Parliament Hill on February 10, 2016 to raise awareness about this important issue.

To participate send a Valentine’s Day card or letter supporting Have a Heart Day to the Prime Minister and your Member of Parliament.  You can also spread the word through social media like Twitter, and Facebook.
