Labour Board to Impose Contract on Nelson House

Publish date: Tuesday, August 04, 2015

August 4, 2015 (Nelson House, MB) - The five members of MNU Nisichawayasihk Local 138 ended their strike on July 24th after applying to the Labour Board for the imposition of a contract.

In Manitoba, union members who have been on strike for more than 60 days may apply to the labour board when both sides in the dispute declare that they are not able to resolve the issue.

In this case, the Federal government has refused to commit the funds necessary to grant these nurses parity with other Manitoba nurses. Currently, MNU representatives are waiting for a hearing date from the Labour Board.
