Brian Sinclair inquest report released today

Today, Justice Timothy Preston released his findings from the inquest into the death of Brian Sinclair at Health Sciences Centre in 2008.


The inquest was held from August 2013 - June 2014, hearing from 82 witnesses, including Manitoba Nurses Union’s members.


As a party with standing, MNU submitted the ER report with several recommendations to improve healthcare delivery in Winnipeg Emergency Departments.


A number of recommendations from this report were included into Justice Timothy Preston’s report. Our efforts will be targeted at ensuring the recommendations are implemented.


"The inquest was a very difficult but very important process for everyone involved,” said MNU president Sandi Mowat. “We will work with the WRHA to ensure such a tragic occurrence never happens again."
